Made from recycled structural scraps reclaimed from the steel industry. They are meticulously cut from i-beams weighing thousands of pounds, sandblasted clean, meticulously filed by hand, and painted with heat resistant paint.
These modern fireplace andirons are a naturally perfect design for their purpose as a firewood holder; they beautifully lift the wood to just the right height, allowing oxygen to circulate underneath and allowing the fire to burn more easily. At the same time, the raised edges at the front and rear of the andirons keep wood safely from rolling forward or back. Being reclaimed steel, they retain heat for a long time, maximizing the fire's efficiency by continuously radiating warmth.
Like a cherished cast iron pan, these modern industrial style fireplace andirons will blacken and improve with age and last for generations. Made in the U.S.A. by a family-owned company.
Our reclaimed i-beam andirons have a naturally pitted texture (testament to their unique past) covered by a matte charcoal gray paint. Each andiron set may vary slightly and small dents, makers marks, or other minor signs of industrial use may be found (we think this is part of what makes them so fascinating!). During the first firing, there also may be a slight odor from the paint curing, but this is harmless and will subside. Color may vary slightly from that shown on your screen.
CAUTION! Although your andirons have been filed to remove burrs and sharp edges left over from the milling process, they can still be slightly sharp along their edges. Please exercise caution when handling them.
